Companies in Burkina Faso that do not compensate for this wage are susceptible to legal punishment. The minimum monthly payment is CFA34, 664. Females are allowed a 14-week paid maternity leave. Female workers can receive a 6-week pay, and an 8-week paid leave post-birth. For eligibility, the female must possess the required documents. The company and social security split the payment.

Paternity Leave

Fathers receive a 20-day paternity leave for family-related reasons.

Sick Leave

Workers are eligible for paid sick leave based on the employment period.  

  • For 1 or less employment period – 2-months' pay, that is, 1-month total compensation and the other 50% of salary. 
  • For 1-5 employment years – 4-months' pay, that is 1-month total compensation and the other months' half pay.
  • For 6-10 employment years – 5-months' pay, that is 2-months' full compensation and 3-months half pay.
